Community Volunteering

On Saturday, August 8th from 9 a.m. until noon we will be volunteering at Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes located at 901 Portage Street, Kalamazoo, MI. Volunteer tasks vary, generally consisting of sorting donated food into boxes for distribution to food pantries in the area, or repackaging bulk foods into smaller packages for distribution to clients.

KLF distributes groceries to hungry people in Kalamazoo County both on-site and through pantries around the county, and provides food-specific programming and services. Unlike other food assistance agencies in Southwest Michigan, KLF collects and procures food, distributes it and provides service to hungry people in our community.

KLF distributes over 2 million pounds of food annually and regularly raises funds to continue this level of service in these tough economic times. Summertime is a particularly difficult time for families in our community, as children do not have school breakfast and lunch programs to rely upon.  Just $1 will feed one person three meals for one day.

Please consider volunteering for this event. You may also volunteer as a family.
